Hello and welcome to Jimharney.com! This page is designed as a brief overview of who I am and what I do. This site is also a gateway to my many other sites and hopefully you will find some other useful and interesting information here.
I am Jim Harney, a musician and web developer based in Williamsburg, Virginia. I am an educated musician, arranger, recording engineer, audio technician and MIDI sequencer. I have worked professionally as a musician on saxophone, clarinet, flute, drums, bass, and keyboards for nearly 30 years. I currently play in several bands (see links below) in the Williamsburg/Hampton Roads area. I also enjoy arranging and recording and have done arrangements for numerous types of groups. In addition to many years of freelance work, I worked at Busch Gardens for 20 years as a musician, stage manager, audio technician and music supervisor.
In 2004, I made the decision to leave Busch Gardens and go to school for web design. In 2006 I earned my AAS degree in Computer Science in Web Development from ECPI College of Technology. Shortly thereafter, I began working for the Williamsburg-based web development company NetSenses, Inc. In addition to my work with NetSenses, I also work as a freelance web developer with my company Jazz Harmony Designs. I enjoy all aspects of the web development process including graphic design, html, css, client and server side scripting and database development.
Please look around and feel free to visit my many sites listed below or click on any of the rss links for related information.
The jimharneysax.com site was created as a showcase for my playing in an effort to find more work as a freelance musician. This site also features the equipment that I currently play, saxophone links and other saxophone related topics.
Hot House is a group of talented musicians playing a variety of music including classic rock, motown, country, blues, disco and more. The Site features information about the band, a photo gallery, performance schedule and other features.

The Williamsburg Classic Swing Orchestra site began in January of 2006, this site branched off from the Moonglow site and exists under its own domain. This is a 16-piece big band playing classic swing music as well as contemporary big band music. The band performs several times throughout the year in the Hampton Roads area.
The Sound of Swing Orchestra web site was created in the winter of 2009 at the request of Mr. Glen Boswick, the bands leader. Sound of Swing Orchestra is a 15-piece swing band performing all around the Hampton Roads area. I was asked to join this group in the summer of 2008.
Jazz Harmony Designs is my own web design company that began in the summer of 2005. Since that time, Jazz Harmony Designs has grown to include graphics, web site design, web site optimization, database, maintenance and hosting.
